NESPWare
What is NESPWare?

NESPWare (Navy EHF Satellite Program (NESP) softWare) is a simulation software product that provides real world simulation of actual Navy EHF satellite communications operations. NESPWare is a fully self-contained training software package, as it can simulate the operation of the AN/USC-38(V) satellite communications terminals (ship, shore, and submarine) as well as the command and control processing on-board the MILSTAR, UFO, and FEP EHF satellites!

NESPWare Operational Overview

The NESPWare Software suite is intended to realistically simulate many of the complex operations and dynamics occurring in and between the Navy's Extremely High Frequency (EHF) Satellite Communications Program (NESP) terminal (AN/USC-38(V)) and 4 of the currently used EHF satellite types (MILSTAR, FEP, UFO/E, UFO/EE). The intent of the software package is to create an operational simulation environment that closely matches the actual real-world operational environment in form, fit, and function.

NESPWare Functional Overview

NESPWare allows the EHF trainee to perform real world training exercises without consuming production satellite and terminal resources. Sailors can configure NESPWare to mirror their command configuration (i.e. Shore, Aircraft Carrier, Aegis Cruiser, Destroyer, Aegis Destroyer, Amphibious, and Submarine) to enhance training's realism and effectiveness. In addition, E, G, and J EHF software versions are supported. This allows NESPWare to support actual Navy Fleet EHF practices and procedures in order to prepare the sailor to employ EHF effectively in a war fighter role. Using the NESPWare package, the sailor can perform critical tasks as often as necessary to build proficiency. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Receiving or Sending Tomahawk Missile MDU point-to-point calls
  • EHF Satellite acquisitions(for all EHF capable satellites)
  • Activating or Joining tactical EHF voice networks
  • Activating or Joining EHF NECC(Navy EHF Communication Controller) networks
  • Receiving or Sending voice point-to-point calls
  • Activating or Joining Teletype(TTY) networks
  • Receiving or Sending TTY point-to-point calls
  • Employing Agile Beam Management(ABM)
  • Employing Over-The-Air Rekeying(OTAR)
  • Satellite Resource Management
  • Spot Beam control/management
  • MDR Operations(Coming Soon)
